Our Story
I.
2011 Los Angeles
The First Act
Back in 2011, Moe was throwing parties called The Pink Tie, and Pixel moved through the same rooms. We knew of each other, familiar faces in a shared orbit, but nothing more. A few years later, the orbit tightened. A boat party called Shake Lasta, hosted by Pixel's friends who were quickly becoming Moe's, brought us onto the same deck. That trip became a yearly ritual, and somewhere in those returns our friendship found its footing. It's also where Pixel first caught the puppy dog eyes Moe swore he wasn't giving. Time did what time does. Eventually we were both single at once, and the friendship we'd spent years building slipped, almost without ceremony, into something more. Then came Knott's Scary Farm, and our first date, and the beginning of everything after. Not long into it, we were lying in bed one night, laughing at nothing the way people do when they're falling hard. Somewhere in the silliness we were staring at the ceiling fan, talking about getting married someday, and about the cake. It would be shaped like a ceiling fan. We were certain. We're still certain. That's where wedding website fancake got its name. That was ten years ago. Within a year we'd moved in together, and Moe, who had always been sure he never wanted children, fell without resistance for Pixel's three, whom he's helped raise every year since. Now we're marrying on the weekend of our tenth anniversary. Ten years, one imaginary fan cake, and a whole life built in between.
II.
2026 Corona
The Proposal
Midnight, New Year's 2026, at a friend's house. Moe proposed to the romantic musical stylings of "Get Low." The original played first. Then an acoustic version came on, and that was the moment. He took her hands and started to speak, and before a single word made it out, she shouted YES. "I need you to not talk right now," he said, so he could get the words out through the tears that were already coming. And there, in front of our friends, he asked her to marry him with her grandmother's ring. And just like that, we were engaged.
III.

Forever Begins

Ten years in, we're not starting a new life, we're honoring the one we made together: the house, the kids, the whole beautiful mess of it.
